CURRENT AND NEW ACTIVE BEAM PROJECTS
We need your help! Ask us about getting involved.

SUNDAY SCARIES get-togethers. Meet up to prepare for the week ahead – work or job-seeking. Commiserate, share ideas and support, connect, make friends. Non-sucky networking.
CARE KITS. Request and gather personal hygiene items and toiletries from local community members. Assemble into individual kits. Distribute via library and other venues.
COMMUNITY NEEDS assessment. Find out “what do you need?” Survey local residents online or in-person. Talk with community activists and volunteers. Ask on social media.
PANTRY HOPPERS (led by TheVillage). Volunteers deliver free food from local pantries to those who can’t get there.
SOCIAL MEDIA and website. Create, maintain, and expand BEAM’s online presence.
THIRD SPACES. Friendly gatherings, to reduce loneliness and isolation.
JOB BOARD and employment support network. Connections to real jobs.
SAFETY AND PROTECTION. Inform and prepare our area against ICE. Distribute alert whistles. Figure out how to set up neighbor networks. Support organizations doing rapid response and know-your-rights training. Bystander intervention and de-escalation training.
GRIEF GATHERINGS to mourn our civil freedoms, and gain comfort in solidarity and sharing.
DE-STIGMATIZING and promoting free professional mental health services.
COLLABORATE with other mutual aid groups in our local area. Connect and communicate.
REPAIR CAFE. Bring appliances, electronics, clothing, etc. to get fixed by volunteers.
CO-WORKING + DAYCARE. Parents childcare coop while working at a shared location.
COMMUNITY NIGHTS / Creative outlets over shared interests. Crafts? Recreation? Readings? Poetry? Comedy? Parents night out? Phoneless night? Conversations (coping with politics and societal collapse, new parents, social media, teens, divorce, grief, immigrant safety)?
… and your new ideas! What are you thinking? Let’s flesh out your ideas and needs.
